A very happy Diwali to everyone who celebrates this beautiful festival of lights, happiness, and sparkle.

Fall is here, winter is going to arrive soon and today is Diwali. Ah, can this get any better? It is my favorite time of the year as the weather gets better in Delhi. I can finally use those dewy foundations without being terrified that they will melt off. With a cool breeze during evenings, there is an atmosphere of festivities around, the fantastic food, the decorations, and dressing up in ethnic wear. We just need a reason to do that, don’t we?

Diwali gives us a chance to dress in traditional silhouettes. Although I am more of a skater skirt and tee kind of person, I still like going a little “desi” during festivals. For this year, I decided to do a minimalist festive fashion fusion attire by adding a few statement pieces to jazz things up a tad.

I wore this beautiful black maxi skirt, which has gold-colored polka dots on the lower half of the dress. I am a huge fan of maxi skirts from places like BIBA or Fabindia because they are so easy to carry and yet look like you have made an effort to put it all together. As I didn’t want to go any heavy on the top either, I wore a simple self striped black crop top.

However, to balance the gold color from the skirt, I decided to carry gold and white embroidered, Indian chain clutch.

Perking up the look with the conventional jewelry, I decided to carry these stunning Kundan and pearl Chand Balis which look so elegant yet are not heavy, so you can wear them for the whole day without worrying about them. I got them from an Instagram store (and the owner (Devika) is so sweet and professional with her work.

I also wore a muted gold-colored braided style bracelet just because I thought I needed something for my wrists.

Lastly, for makeup, I went for a classic nude matte eyeshadow with a hint of gold shimmer, bold eyebrows, and lots of mascara. To finish the look, I added some bronzer, highlighter, and deep pink lipstick.
